Markant seeks a knowledgeable network/systems administrator to join our team. The right candidate will work with our team to keep our customers' network available and secure by utilizing a variety of tools and technologies. System Administrator

Markant is currently hiring a system administrator on a 2 month contract position for our client at the Norfolk Naval Station in Virginia. This position requires an existing security investigation (NACLC or SSBI). The system administrator duties include:

  • Applying updates to Windows desktops (XP) and servers (2000, 2003)
  • Review Retina vulnerability scans to determine required action
  • Configure new equipment utilizing the DISA Gold Disk
  • Update equipment in the VMS system
  • Perform data backups
  • Assist local users with helpdesk items
  • Assist with CAC readers and certificates
  • Install applications
  • Troubleshoot user/computer issues

Information Assurance Monitor

Markant is actively seeking a well organized candidate with excellent writing skills to join our Information Assurance team. The right candidate will work directly with the Information Assurance Manager on organizing, writing and reviewing system documentation while following the DoD DITSCAP/DIACAP methodology. In addition, the candidate will work with the Computer Emergency Response Team to ensure system administrators respond appropriately to tasks and incidents.

The candidate must possess the following skill sets:

  • Information Assurance experience
  • Organization with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to create well written documentation
  • IT background knowledge of building and implementing systems
  • DITSCAP / DIACAP knowledge is not necessary but would be an advantage

This candidate will also provide Information Assurance support in the areas of vulnerability management and secure configurations while serving as an initial point of contact for troubleshooting hardware/software security problems.

Web Application Developer

Markant's web developer has to be able to gather and analyze customer requirements to design a software solution to fit customer needs. He/she must create and use cases and user statements to prepare application design and code to meet use cases. In addition to creating code that follows standard methodologies and is multi-browser compliant, he/she must be able to work within OOP coding environment. Use of SVN and LAMP technologies is a plus. Use SQL statements to create dynamic web pages that meet customer requirements.

Required skill sets:

The candidate must directly support field personnel and management. This individual will maintain files, and prepare outgoing/incoming correspondences. He/she must be able to efficiently operate multi-line phone system, postage machine/scale, calculator, facsimile machine, computer/printer, and photocopy machine. In addition, the candidate must excel in customer relations, telephone etiquette, Interpersonal skills, time management, organization, and written communications. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and in typing are required.

Required duties:

  • Answer multi-line telephone system in a timely and professional manner. Take accurate phone messages and deliver them in a timely fashion, if caller does not want to leave a voicemail.
